2005 Tools for Life Fair -

The One that Started it All!Tools for Life Logo is a group of tools including a screwdriver, wrench and plyers

In 2005, the first Tools for Life Fair was held in Boise at the Doubletree Riverside Hotel.  It started as a way to bring agencies and personnel together who had the same goal in mind...to assist graduating students with disabilities and their families as they transitioned from school out into the world.  This transition can sometimes seem overwhelming!  Some transitioning students want to attend college, while others want to go right to work. The idea of  bringing these resources together resulted in Tools for Life.   It is a collaboration between many Idaho state agencies making up the Idaho Interagency Council on Secondary Transition, the Idaho State Department of Education and the Idaho Assistive Technology Project.

Many people offer support to transitioning students as they move on in their lives.  That's why the Fair is perfect for Idaho Educators, Post Secondary Educators, therapists, counselors, service providers, job developers, and other rehabilitation specialists, and especially the students and their families.

The 2005 event included presentations by national and regional experts on issues surrounding secondary transition and assistive technology.  Keynote speakers and an Exhibit Hall made the 2005 Tools for Life Fair a great success!
